What Is Coaching?
People often ask me “what is coaching?” I define it as a partnership formed to help people get from where they are to where they dream to be. It is built upon listening, hearing, empowerment, support, commitment, caring and action.
Coaching is:
Coaching is not:
- Experienced in a nonjudgmental and safe space
- A strategy for assisting you in achieving your highest level of wellness and performance
- Growth-promoting
- Thought-provoking
- Intrinsic motivation building
- A change process using visualization, goal creation, accountability & compassion
- Advice giving
- Therapy, counseling or mentoring
- Based on the past
- Based on the coach's expert opinion (you are the expert!)
- Prescriptive solutions to problems
Outcomes Include:
- Increased self-awareness & self-knowledge
- Increased personal responsibility
- Achievement of personal & professional goals
- Behavior changes that last
- Increased satisfaction with your life
- Increased self-confidence in your ability to achieve
- A sense of purpose & meaning
- Becoming your best self - no matter your age!
